Christmas. The day where we get to open our presents, the week where we don't have to go to school, and the one day where we don't have to work.
In preparation for Christmas, we spend the first three weeks planning parties and buying gifts. A busy season and a great time for the malls, also coffee shops. The joy of getting a gift for those special someones to make them happy. But are we becoming slaves to the corporate world? Christmas ends up being a time of buying gifts for one or another and most people just see it as a holiday before the year ends. Everything is about buying gifts and asking for gifts.
There is no more old fashion Christmas' anymore. No one goes around caroling or celebrates the true meaning of Christmas. Unity. Everyone is drawn together by the thoughts of getting gifts from others. Christmas has been commercialized. Kids see it as a time where they can ask their parents for just about anything they want hoping that they will find it under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. A quote from a lady whom i heard talking about Christmas. "I don't do Christmas presents, its just too stressful, I tell all my friends that i don't want anything and I tell them I'm not going to give them anything. All I ask of them is to bring some food over and have a big Christmas dinner."
Most people tend to celebrate Christmas as a holiday but in reality they are just following the trends of the corporate world.
Is your Christmas meaningful or is it just a time where you get to ask for whatever you want?
